Our priority at Tree MD is to maintain the health of your trees and landscape plants. Some examples of common tree diseases you may have heard of that are treatable are Oak Wilt, Dutch Elm Disease, and Needle Cast. Soil condition is an important factor in our tree's health. Most of the soil in the Madison area is heavy clay, which does not lend well to tree health. Instead of fertilizing, we use organic compost to add nutrients to the soil. Although this method can take a bit longer, it is the safest way to introduce nutrients to the soil. We have seen vast improvements in many declining trees by applying compost, and in some cases have seen results in just a few weeks. Please contact us to see if composting is right for you.

Insects can be very detrimental to the health of our trees and plants. We specialize in handling most insect problems with non-invasive means, as well as organic treatments. Some common problematic insects are Gypsy Moths, Tent Caterpillars, and Japanese beetles. Please feel free to contact us if you suspect and infestation.

Tree pruning is the most important way to keep your trees and shrubs healthy. Too often we see trees that have been neglected for many years, and as a result become damaged in high winds, contract a serious disease, or have to be removed. In extreme cases lack of pruning can cause property damage and personal injury.
To keep your trees healthy, prune early and often. Pruning should begin when trees are saplings, and continue every 2 to 5 years for it's entire life. Make sure a Certified Arborist who knows how and why a branch should be cut looks at your trees often to ensure they have a long and happy life!
Occasionally trees become too big, damaged, or dangerous, and need to be removed. Our priority is to keep trees alive and well, but in the unfortunate case where a tree needs to be removed, Tree MD can safely remove it while minimally impacting your property. We have Certified Arborists and a Mechanical Engineer on staff, so no matter how technical the job, you can be sure it will get done right.
We have the ability to remove any trace of stumps big or small, no matter where they are. We specialize in hard to reach stumps, either in tight spots, backyards, or on steep hillsides. Once a stump is ground out, we can either leave the grindings in the hole, or we can remove the chips, fill with topsoil, and plant grass or any other landscape plant.
Tree cabling can significantly increase the strength and longevity of any tree. We can strengthen branches that are predisposed to failure as well as repair trees that already have minor splits. We have the ability to plant or transplant most trees, sometimes up to 30' tall! We have a Kubota BX25 compact backhoe, which has less ground pressure than an average person's foot on your yard, so you won't even know we were there. Tree planting is a huge part of Tree MD, with more than 50 trees planted in 2010 alone! In fact, we have planted more trees then we have ever removed!
